About me

My name is Irena, I’m a professional flutist, flute teacher and author of flute method books for early beginners. I teach all levels of flute students especially very young beginners starting from 4 and 5 years old. With my method books and teaching resources, I help both teachers and students to have an enjoyable musical experience by learning through play and engagement.

Here is how everything started. Soon after I finished my studies in Macedonia, I moved to Dubai where I was teaching and performing for about 12 years. I worked with all ages of students during these 12 years, and many young beginners.

At the beginning of my teaching, I was struggling to find teaching materials suitable for younger beginners. The method books that were available to me at that time, were not suitable for this age and I had to adopt a lot of the resources, in order to create an enjoyable lesson for this age of students.

I started creating my own materials for my little beginners and customizing it to each student's needs. I was creating tunes, exercises and inventing games to make the learning process more fun.

In all this process I organically developed my own teaching method for the little ones, where I lead them to learn through play and experiences like movement, games and more. The lessons were more fun for all of us, and most important, the children kept wanting to come back to these lessons. This is how the Toot and Hoot Flute Method was born. 

When I moved to Singapore in 2020, I decided to finally put all my materials and experience together and create The Flute Books

I hope everyone who uses these books, will enjoy as much as me and my students do.
