Mozarteum Uni workshop for students on Toot & Hoot Flute Method by Irena M Mileva Workshops on teaching young flute beginners through play - for university students, flute teachers and music educators.

The Toot & Hoot Flute Method grew out of my work for nearly 20 years with young flutists internationally – first the Middle East, then Asia and currently in Europe, in Vienna. In my workshops I share the ideas and solutions behind it, and participants have the chance to try them out themselves: games, stories, sound exploration and the path from play to music.

Workshop topics

From Play to Music

How play, storytelling, movement and graphic notation can be included into lessons for early beginners, and how to guide the students step by step to become well-rounded young musicians.

Basics Before Notes

Sound, rhythm, breath and movement come first, and notes later. How to work with beginners so that musical experience comes before analysis, and why this helps them become more creative young players.
